Characteristics of Graphite Products for Photovoltaic Industry
2024.06.03
(1) Density
The theoretical density of graphite single crystal is 2.26g/cm3, usually the density of artificial graphite is between1.5-1.9g/cm3, the density of solid pyrolytic carbon can reach 2.1g/cm3,
(2) Mechanical strength
Artificial graphite is different from most other materials, its tensile, flexion and compressive strength will increase with the increase of temperature, when it reaches 2200K, its strength will decrease. At 2200K, the strength of graphite is twice as high as that at room temperature.
The compressive strength of graphite materials generally used in semiconductor and photovoltaic industries reaches 90-150Mpa; The bending strength is 40-65Mpa.
(3) Electrical conductivity
Unlike other metals, the resistance temperature coefficient of graphite is negative. Graphite has good electrical conductivity. Close to absolute zero, with only a few free electrons, it actsas an insulator in itself, and its conductivity increases as the temperaturerises. The electrical conductivity of graphite is higher than that of many metals, and its value decreases with increasing temperature. The thermal conductivity of graphite varies with the degree of graphitization.
(4) Thermal expansibility
The coefficient of thermal expansion of graphite is arranged in order of 3×10-6K-1, that is, it is only equivalent to1/4 of iron. The value of thermal expansion coefficient of different grades ofgraphite will vary, which is also related to the anisotropy and temperature of the graphite material.
(5) Specific heat
The specific heat of graphite varies greatly in the temperature range of 500K-1500K, and it also increases greatly with the increase of temperature. And different grades of graphite, itsspecific heat change is very small.
(6) Temperature resistance
Graphite does not melt, but can withstand temperatures up to 750K at 3900K. Graphite has very good thermal shock resistance, so rapid heating or cooling, graphite will not have a problem.
(7) Machinability
Graphite is easy to process, and its edge strength and wear resistance are good. Parts with complex structures and tight tolerances can be obtained by finishing. Graphite has a good resistance to infiltration, it will not be melted glass or most metal infiltration.
